Four apprentices receiving holding awards for completing their courses alongside company managing directors.

Apprenticeship Success in Facility Management

We are extremely proud to announce the completion of four apprenticeship qualifications sponsored by Artic Building Services. We believe it is important to invest in the facility management industry by supporting and funding opportunities for professional development across the company. The apprenticeships completed consisted of two Air Conditioning and two Electrical engineering programmes which were conducted over a period of two years with North Kent College, examined by City & Guilds.

We want to congratulate the following four talented engineers that completed their apprenticeships:

  • Jack Hawney
  • Gary Poxon
  • Louis Bell
  • Jack Cumby

After their two years of dedication and persistence, all four engineers were extremely happy to receive their awards from our managing directors and move forward with their progression.

Where Engineering in Facility Management Begins:

Artic Building Services has several outreach programs that encourages young people to consider careers in engineering and other STEM paths. We work hard to support the very foundations that shape the future of facilities management through STEM events at our local schools and further education colleges. We proudly operate an apprenticeship programme which has been active since 1998, building the next generation of talented engineers.

Two of our apprentices this year originated not from our STEM events, but from Artic itself. Both had been previously employed at our head office in Dartford and wanted to progress further into their careers. After seeking guidance from their team and exploring the range of opportunities available to them, both decided that they wanted to step into the world of engineering. Artic was happy to support their choice of progression by onboarding them onto their chosen NVQ apprenticeship scheme and funding their qualification. As a part of their apprenticeships, all four engineers were provided with the exciting opportunity to work and learn on some of our prestigious active sites with our current facility management experts.

When asked what they most appreciated from Artic apprenticeship scheme, one aspect that they could all agree on was receiving the chance to work with our experienced employees on different equipment where they were able to apply what they were learning in the theory side of their courses. They were grateful to have been offered that crucial onsite experience and reiterated that one of the best parts about doing their apprenticeship was “the people you meet along the way.”

Their Place in Facility Management Now:

All four young men have now proudly accepted jobs with Artic Building Services and are excited to continue building their experience alongside our fantastic team of talented engineers. They are thankful that Artic showed that initial confidence in their abilities by funding their opportunities to progress further and supporting them every step of the way, adjusting the apprenticeship to fit their needs where necessary. Making just one request after finishing their apprenticeship schemes, they ask that Artic will continue to invest in them throughout their new careers. Not only will we continue to invest in the ambitions of our staff, but we will also continue to celebrate the achievements of everyone across the business on their journeys in facility management.

With Thanks:

Our engineers wanted to give thanks to some fantastic individuals who they felt were instrumental figures in helping them get to where they are today. For providing priceless guidance and endless support, they would like to give special thanks to:

  • David Needs
  • Simon Moynes
  • Michael Wratten
  • James Frost

We pride ourselves on the business culture which we have built. Our company ethos is centred around teamwork and support, making sure to always uplift our team members around us. With this in mind, we would also like to extend this sentiment and give our own personal thanks to those individuals for being team players, helping to uplift our new talented members of the team.

Celebrating our Apprenticeship Scheme:

We are excited to continue empowering futures through our apprenticeship scheme programme and fuelling the progression of those that work at Artic Building Services. We know that one day these four engineers will be mentors to future apprentices and the cycle of development will continue. The future of facility management starts at Artic.
